A Popeye's Chicken and Biscuit franchisee recently opened 3 new stores in Indiana. The new construction costs overran on the franchisee’s third store and had forced management to review their plans to generate savings. One of the many areas of investment that was reviewed was POS systems. Popeye’s wanted a complete, color touch screen system including credit card processing, labor management, inventory control, remote access, and several more specific functions to fully meet their operational needs. Total cost of the system and return on investment were clearly priorities for Popeye’s. After researching several major POS providers in the industry, Popeye’s selected the Maitre’D system from Posera Software.
One of Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuits new stores opened on January 3rd with the drive thru running at full capacity and a full lobby. Reliability and the ability of the system to quickly and efficiently handle customer orders and display them at the kitchen production stations were key factors in addressing customer service needs in the first week of operation. The need for completely secure cash accountability including cashier drawer deposits and management of store deposits was also crucial.
Chris Endres, the Popeye’s franchisee owner explains: "The Maitre’D system is user friendly and durable. It offers the technical capability required to analyze my business in the areas of cost of goods and payroll, and amazingly does more than other systems that are substantially more expensive. The integrated Maitre’D Sales, Labor and Inventory Management functions deliver the controls necessary to insure a successful ongoing operation.’’ High-speed credit card processing from Mercury Payment systems provides another avenue for Popeye’s to enhance customer service to their new patrons.
Popeye’s selected Maitre’D software combined with Epson printers, various equipment from J2 Retail Systems, including 520ex POS Terminal running windows CE.Net, rear customer displays and Magnetic Card Readers as well as cash drawers. The kitchen video display in the production centers uses a newly released LC6000 CVM Color Video Controllers from Posera Software.
